ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Macalester College water polo team notched its first CWPA win of the season with a 9-5 victory over Wittenberg University Sunday morning at Augustana College's Anne Greve Lund Natatorium. The win gives the Scots a 3-8 record overall, including a 1-2 mark in conference play. The Tigers fall to 5-6, 1-3 CWPA.
Macalester answered an early Wittenberg goal with four straight tallies to lead 4-1. Senior
Eleanor Michaud (Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) scored twice, with first year
Kendall Strauss (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock) and sophomore
Kendall Coney (League City, Texas/Clear Creek) also scoring in the run. Before the end of the second quarter, the Tigers scored a pair of goals sandwiched around another goal by Michaud to make the halftime score 5-3 Scots. Strauss and sophomore
Brooke Lane (Meriden, Conn./Hopkins School) tallied the only goals of the third quarter for a 7-3 advantage. First year
Alana Nadolski (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) notched the first goal of the fourth quarter, and Michaud registered her fourth goal of the match following a Wittenberg goal to make the score 9-4. The Tigers closed out the scoring with a tally in the final minute.

Jayden Kratt (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn) preserved the victory with 12 saves, as Wittenberg put 17 shots on goal compared to 14 for Macalester. Senior

Jess Palmer-Sammons (Half Moon Bay, Calif./Half Moon Bay) each had two assists in the win.
The Scots will host Carthage College in a CWPA match on Saturday, Mar. 25 at Riley Pool. Macalester will honor its seniors before the game, which starts at 3:00 p.m.
