Minneapolis, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team closed out the season today, with an 8-1 loss to Carleton. Carleton, 12-1 (8-1 MIAC), will head to the MIAC playoffs next week, while the Scots end the season 5-12 (2-8 MIAC).
Sophomore
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) earned the Scots' lone win today at No. 3 singles. Ulrich forced a third set and won 3-6, 6-2, 1-0. Junior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) came close in set one losing 6-4, but fell 6-0 in set two at No. 2 singles, for the Knights to take the point. The Knights also won at first, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles.
Ulrich paired with sophomore
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) at No. 1 doubles, and won two games, but fell 8-2. Sorajja and fellow junior
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) also fell 8-2 to the Knights at No. 2 doubles. Carleton also won at No. 3 doubles.
Today, the Scots honored its two seniors,
Hannah Lundblad (Lakeville, Minn./South) and
Cameron Payne (Charleston, W. VA./St. Timothy's). Macalester returns 11 to the court next year.
