Collegeville, Minn. – The Macalester College baseball team traveled to Collegeville this afternoon to play Saint John's in a MIAC double header. Game one came down to the final inning, but the Scots ultimately lost both games. The Scots are now 8-17 (4-8 MIAC) while the Johnnies improve to 18-14 (10-4 MIAC).
The Johnnies took an early lead, 1-0, in the third inning of game one. Macalester came back to tie the game in the sixth. Senior
Anthony Palma (Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman) singled to bring home first year
Hayes Waddell (North Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet). The Scots kept the momentum in the seventh. Senior
Michael Moreno (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led off for the Scots, hitting a double. Then, Macalester loaded the bases with back-to-back walks. Junior
Kenny Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y./George School) stepped up to the plate next for Macalester and smashed a grand slam to left field, to give the Scots a 5-1 lead going into the second half of the final inning. However, Saint John's were able to put up five runs and take the game 6-5.

Lian Lincoln (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage) and sophomore
Matt Mukai (Foster City, Calif./Aragon) each registered two of Macalester's nine hits in the game. Junior
Declan Elias (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius) pitched the first four innings, allowing only one hit and run one to the Johnnies.
Macalester was shutout in game two. The Scots' offense registered eight hits but left 11 runners on base. After going down three in the second, junior
Alec Deegan (Wynnewood, PA./Lower Merion) stepped onto the mound and kept the Johnnies scoreless for two innings before Saint John's blew the game open in the fifth with a three-run homer. The Johnnies would score one run in each of the next two innings and then two more in the eighth to defeat the Scots 10-0.
Mukai hit two singles in game two while Lincoln and first year
Bowman Wingard (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) both had a double and a single.
The Scots' next doubleheader is scheduled for Sunday April 24. Macalester will travel to Northfield to play Carleton. Game one will be at 1:00 p.m. with game two at 3:30 p.m.
