Men's Tennis: Macalester Comes Up Short To Bethel

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester men's tennis team lost to Bethel University tonight in a close competition, 5-4.

Despite winning four of the six singles matches, the Scots were swept in doubles to give Bethel the victory.

In singles, No. 2 first year Jeffrey Jorgensen (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) won 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Ben White (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South), in the No. 4 spot, won when his opponent retired from the match. Then No. 5 senior Peter Willenborg (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) won a tight match 7-5, 7-5 and No. 6 senior Matt Yang (Bethesda, MD./Walt Whitman) defeated his opponent in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.

Macalester will play next Thursday, Apr. 25, against Gustavus Adolphus College at home in St. Paul, Minn.
