ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester women's basketball team lost on their final game of the season at St. Catherine University, 86-47.
Junior
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) started the Scots off with a layup for the first points of the game. Fellow junior
Tyana Loiselle (Bloomer, Wis./Chippewa Falls) then hit a three-pointer to make the game 7-5 in favor of the Wildcats of St. Catherine. Macalester could not keep up with St. Catherine and went into the second quarter down 24-13.
The Scots continued to struggle offensively and went down their largest deficit of the half, 20 points, by the end of the second.
The third quarter saw the Scots produce defensively as they held the Wildcats to just 13 points. Leading shooter on the day for Macalester, sophomore
Katherine Podoll (San Geronimo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake), scored two jumper for the Scots in the third. Podoll tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.
Despite the Scots productive third quarter, Macalester was unable to mount a comeback against St. Catherine. Out shot 25-13 in the fourth, the Scots lost 86-47.
Macalester will end the year 6-19, 4-14 in the MIAC. The Scots will return all but one current player, senior
Addy Perkins (St. Louis, Park, Minn./St. Louis Park).
