ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team swept Concordia College, 3-0 and 8-0 in six innings in a MIAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Macalester Softball Complex. The first win of the day marked the 100th victory at Macalester for head coach

Kaela Jackson (Seattle, Wash./James A. Garfield). Then in the third, junior
Natalie Platt (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) singled home first year

Senior
Nikki Caicedo (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) went 2-for-3, while Carpenter was 1-for-1 with two walks and a run.
The Scots struck early in the second game, with Jackson singling home junior
G.G. Gunther (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) in the bottom of the first inning. Then in the third, Jackson hit a two-run single to score Platt and Carpenter for a 3-0 advantage. With Caicedo and sophomore
Claire O'Connor (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) on first and third in the fifth, sophomore
Makaya Resner (Missoula, Mont./Loyola Sacred Heart) blasted a home run to left to put Macalester ahead, 6-0. Back-to-back RBI doubles in the sixth by Jackson and Bean ended the game, 8-0.
Bean started in the circle and shut out the Cobbers on three hits over four innings of work. Resner, who was playing in her first game since Mar. 4 due to injury, came on in relief and pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Jackson had the hot hand at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run, a double, four RBIs and a stolen base. Carpenter again proved to be a difficult out, as she was 3-for-3 with a run and a stolen base. Caicedo delivered two hits for the second straight game.
