ST. PETER, Minn. – The Macalester College women's basketball team fell to Gustavus Adolphus, 86-49 in Saturday afternoon MIAC action at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. The loss brings the Scots to 7-12 overall and 2-10 in league play. The Gusties are now 14-5 overall and 9-3 in the MIAC.

Gustavus was strong from the start, taking an 18-2 lead in the first six minutes of play. Macalester ended the first half down 24 points, trailing Gustavus 46-22 after shooting 33% to the opponents' 54%.

The Gusties continued their offensive dominance in the second half, scoring 20 points in each of the third and fourth quarters.

Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif. / Branson School) led the offensive effort for Macalester, scoring 12 points and pulling down seven boards.
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) added 10 points after shooting five of nine from the field.

The Scots shot 35% on the night and were forced into 18 turnovers. Gustavus connected on 52% of field attempts and outrebounded Macalester, 42-22.

Gustavus was led in scoring by Lindsey Johnson with 16 points.

Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 3 when they host the College of Saint Benedict. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
