Box Score ST. PETER, Minn. – The Macalester College men's basketball team fell to Gustavus Adolphus, 92-67 in a MIAC contest Saturday afternoon at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. The loss brings the Scots to 3-16 overall and 1-13 in league play. The Gusties are now 9-10 overall and 6-10 in the MIAC. Macalester defeated Gustavus earlier this season at the Leonard Center.

The Gusties jumped out to a quick 13-7 lead after five minutes of action, but the Scots didn't back down. With five minutes to go in the half, first year guard
Michael Gutierrez (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep Academy) connected on his second shot from three-point range and was followed by a jumper from junior
Jordan Black-Matthews (Dallas, Tex./Covenant Christian) to cut the Scots' deficit to three (33-30). Gustavus pushed the lead back to six (40-34) to end the half.

The Gusties were able to extend the lead in the second half, shooting 66% from the field and connecting on 10-14 shots from beyond the arc to take a 20-point advantage. Gustavus guard, Chris Narum shot a perfect six for six from three-point range to lead the Gusties with 22 points. Macalester shot 48% from the field.

The Scots were led in scoring by
Kareem Ismail (Pasadena, Calif./Flintridge Prep) who finished with 25 points on 11-18 shooting from the field. Ismail added a team best five rebounds.

First year forward
Wyatt Ferm (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) contributed to the scoring effort, finishing with 14 points. Gutierrez added 13 points and dished out five assists in the contest.

Macalester will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 3 when they travel to Collegeville, Minn. to take on St. John's University. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
