When Last We MetThe last meeting between the Scots and Bethel took place in Arden Hills on Jan. 14 of this season. The Scots fell short, dropping to Bethel 82-46 at the final buzzer.
The Royals defensive pressure resulted in a poor shooting night for the Scots. Freshman center
Regan Fruh was a lone offensive bright spot for Macalester as she scored a season-high 17. Fruh made three of nine shots from the field and knocked down 11 of 14 attempts at the line.
Macalester and St. Kate's met earlier this season on Jan. 10 in St. Paul. The Scots led the Wildcats 38-37 after the first 20 minutes of action as Macalester shot 50% from the field. The Wildcats forced Macalester into 12 second-half turnovers and knocked down six shots from beyond the arc to regain the lead and defeat the Scots 74-59 in final action.
Four Macalester players scored in double figures in the contest. Freshman center
Regan Fruh and sophomore guards
Lauren Clamage and
Grace Dickman each posted 11 points for the Scots. Junior guard
Erin Murray added 10 points and dished out a team-high three assists.
Last Time OutAfter 18 lead changes and seven tied scores, Macalester and Hamline battled until the final buzzer. The Pipers shot 59% in the second half, sparked by a 31-point performance by Chloe Graves to steal a 75-73 win over Macalester on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The Scots entered the half up by nine (37-28) after beating the Pipers on the boards and draining 15 of 17 free throw attempts in the first 20 minutes of action. Hamline picked up some momentum as point guard Chloe Graves knocked down four shots from beyond the arc and went seven for 10 from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Scots were able to answer back, keeping it a two-point game for the final four minutes. With 1.3 seconds remaining, the Scots had possession of the ball for one final baseline out of bounds play. Macalester had an open shot but couldn't get it to fall, dropping to Hamline, 75-73.
Macalester was led in scoring by freshman center
Regan Fruh. Fruh made an impressive 10 of 14 shots from the field to score a career-high 23 points.
Erin Murray added 14 points and dished out a team-high six assists.
