Men’s Soccer: Macalester Falls to St. Olaf in NCAA Second Round

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A late goal by Jens Undlin gave St. Olaf a 1-0 victory over the 14th-ranked Macalester College men's soccer team in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Saturday evening at Macalester Stadium. The Scots end their season with a record of 14-2-5, while the Oles (15-7-1) advance to next week's third round.

St. Olaf ended the scoreless tie in the 87th minute, when Kevin Skrip raced down the right side and played the ball across the middle to Undlin. Undlin ran onto the ball and hit it with his first touch into the goal for what would prove to be the game-winner.

Macalester had the advantage for most of the second half in building a 9-2 edge in shots after halftime. The Scots ended up with a 12-8 advantage in shots for the game.

Junior goalkeeper Zeke Vainer (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) made three saves in goal of Macalester, while Ben Braman made two saves for the Oles.

The Scots had a 2015 to remember, posting an unbeaten record during the regular season and in MIAC play to clinch their 12th conference championship. The team also was ranked regionally all season and was as high as 11th in the national rankings.
