Gustavus went out to a 40-24 halftime lead and went on to topple Macalester 71-49 at the Leonard Center.  The Gusties shot 45% and advance to 12-8 on the season, 9-8 in MIAC play.  Macalester drops to 3-17 overall and 2-15 in the MIAC.

Macalester's Carmen Whitehead (Sr., Greeley, Colo. / West) registered a career-best 25 points to lead the way for the Scots.  She went 9-for-4-13 from the field, including 3-for-4 on three-pointers, and also contributed five rebounds and a couple steals.

Erin Murray (So., Sparta, Wis.) joined Whitehead in double digits, finishing with 10 points on the night.

Gustavus was led by Karina Schroeder, who finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and five steals.  The Gusties enjoyed a 16-10 turnover advantage and led 17-7 in points off turnovers.

The Scots are back in action Saturday (Feb. 8) when they host Augsburg at 1 p.m.
