St. John's went on a key 31-17 run midway through the second half to turn a one-point lead into a decisive margin, and went on to topple the Scots 70-57 in Collegeville. Macalester drops to 2-10 overall, 1-6 in the MIAC, while SJU improves to 5-5 on the season and 3-2 in league competition.
Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) came off the bench to provide Macalester with a team-best 17 points, going 5-for-6 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free throw stripe. Joining Ismail in double figures was
Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) with 10 points to go along with a team-leading four rebounds.
Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) dished out five assists.
Mac was 17-for-18 from the free throw line (94%).
The Johnnies were led by Blake Maslonkowski with 14 points and Patrick Butcher with 13. SJU led 25-6 in bench scoring.
The Scots return to action Saturday (Jan. 11) with an MIAC contest at Augsburg.
