Men's Basketball: Halftime lead disappears against Gustavus

Visiting Gustavus Adolphus shot 21% in the opening half and trailed 27-14 at the break, but shot 69% in the second half to rally past Macalester 75-62 in St. Paul.    Gustavus is now 8-3 overall and still in second in the MIAC standings at 5-1.  Macalester goes to 2-9 on the year, 1-5 in MIAC play.

Pacing Macalester with eight points apiece were Kyle Bernhard (So., Sleepy Hollow, Ill. / Dundee-Crown), Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) and Bert Yaffe (Jr., Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson).  Ismail just missed out on a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds to go along with his eight points.  Sager Moritzky distributed six assists and Yaffe collected three steals.

Jordan Dick paced the Gusties with 16 points and Brody Ziegler added 14.  Martin Feddersen had 10 points, five steals and four assists.  The Gusties were 20-29 shooting in the second half for a 69% mark.  Gustavus led 36-12 in points off turnovers.

Macalester returns to MIAC action Wednesday (Jan. 8) at St. John's.
