Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) netted 20 points but it wasn't enough to lift his Scots to victory as host-Hamline led by nine points at halftime and went on to defeat Macalester 72-63. Macalester drops to 2-8 on the season and 1-4 in the MIAC, while Hamline improves to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC.
Joining Kilgour in double figures was
Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep), who checked in off the bench to contribute 14 points.
Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal) finished with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Four Pipers reached double digits in scoring, led by Austin Johnson with 17 points.
Hamline led 35-26 at the halftime intermission. The margin grew to 16 points at 46-30 with 16:07 to go. Macalester never gave up and clawed back to within two points at 62-60 with 4:30 to play, but could get no closer as the Pipers pulled away to win by nine.
The Scots play host to Gustavus Adolphus on Monday (Jan. 6) at 7:30 p.m.
