Visiting Carleton shot 52% and went on to beat Macalester 66-52 in an MIAC game in St. Paul. The Knights went 18-for-22 from the charity stripe, compared to 5-for-9 for Mac, and received a career-best 34 points from Taylor Hanson. Hanson, who also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, was 12-for-16 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the free throw line.
Macalester's
Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) drained half of his 12 three-point tries and finished with 27 points to pace the Scots.
Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) added four points and
Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal) dished out seven assists.
The Knights shot 54% in the first half and led 33-29 at the break. CC scored the first five points of the second period to go up 38-29. Mac fought back to within two points a couple times midway through the second half, and was down 42-40 with 10:46 left before Carleton staged a big 14-5 rally to go up 56-45 with 4:43 to play. The Knights led 36-16 in points in the paint.
The Scots travel to Moorhead Wednesday (Jan. 22) to take on Concordia.
