Women’s Basketball: Scots fall despite Murray’s 27 points

Erin Murray (So., Sparta. Wis.) drained six three-pointers and finished with a career-best 27 points, but it wasn't enough to lift the Scots to victory as host-St. Catherine held on to beat Macalester 65-59.  St. Kate's advances to 3-9 on the season and 2-7 in the MIAC, while Mac drops to 2-11 overall, 1-9 in the MIAC.

Murray was 6-for-12 from outside the arc and surpasses her old career high of 18 set three times earlier this season.  Veronika Jakubovie (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) just missed out on a double-double, finishing her day with eight points and 13 rebounds to go along with five assists.

The Wildcats had four players in double figures, led by LaShay Holt with 20 points.

At halftime, the score was deadlocked at 32-32.  St. Catherine used a 19-7 run to go up by 11 points at 55-44 with 4:52 to play and held off a late Mac run which brought the Scots to within three points at 61-59 with :59 to go.

Macalester is back in action Monday (Jan. 20) when it plays host to Carleton at 5:45 p.m.
