Men’s Basketball: Scots drop home opener

After trailing by a point with 3:16 to play, visiting-Crown staged a decisive 9-2 rally down the stretch to go up by six points with just :07 left, and went on to topple Macalester 79-74 in St. Paul.  The Storm claim their first win of the year and are now 1-5, while the Scots drop to 1-3.

Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) posted his third double-double in four games and led five Macalester players in double figures, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Joining Glatt in double digits for the Scots were Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal), Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) and Kyle Bernhard (So., Sleepy Hollow, Ill. / Dundee-Crown) with 12 points apiece, and Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) with 10.  Moritzky dished out seven assists and Kilgour and Ismail each added three.

Crown shot 45% and out-rebounded the home team 36-34, and received a team-leading 15 points from Bryce Williams.  Truman Shetler added 14 points and five assists.  The Storm led 19-11 in second chance points and 25-11 in points off turnovers.  Crown was on top 36-32 at halftime.

The Scots begin MIAC play next Wednesday (Dec. 4) when they host Concordia-Moorhead.
