Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) successfully hit 9-of-14 shots from behind the three-point line and finished with a career-high 40 points to lead Macalester to a 92-89 triple overtime victory at Lake Forest (Ill.). Kilgour, who scored 23 in last year's finale for his previous career-best scoring mark, was 14-for-20 overall from the field. Mac's previous personal high since 2000 was 37 turned in by Erik Jackson in Feb. 2005 against Carleton.
The score was tied 71-71 after regulation, 80-80 after one overtime, and 86-86 following the second five-minute OT session, before Macalester picked up its first win of the year by out-scoring the Foresters 6-3 in the third overtime. Mac is 1-1 and LFC is 1-2.
Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) went 7-for-9 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the free throw stripe, and finished with 22 points and eight rebounds for the Scots.
Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) added 14 points and 13 rebounds.
The Scots dished out assists on 22 of 30 baskets, including 11 from
Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal).
Host-Lake Forest was led by Brian Madson with 20 points as one of five players in double digits.
Macalester returns quickly to the court to play tomorrow at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis.
