Men’s Basketball: Season begins with setback to Northwestern

Box Score Box score
Northwestern went out to gain a 38-23 and pulled away to spoil Macalester's season-opener Tuesday night in Roseville, beating the Scots 83-64.  The Eagles, who had already played twice this year, improve to 2-1 after shooting 46% from the floor.

Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) posted a double-double to lead the way for Macalester, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) also dropped in 14 points.

Right behind Glatt in the rebounding category was Kareem Ismail with seven boards.  Kilgour and Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal) each handed out three assists.

Northwestern, a participant in the last three NCAA tournaments, was good on 8-of-18 on three-point tries, and received double digits in scoring from three players, including 21 from Will Gisler.  Northwestern led 36-24 in points in the paint.

The Scots travel for a pair of away games this week.  They play at Lake Forest (Ill.) on Saturday (Nov. 23) and Sunday (Nov. 24) at Lakeland (Wis.).
