Scots fall to top-ranked St. Thomas

Box Score
Dylan Kilgour (Fy., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) pumped in 17 points, going 3-for-6 on three-pointers, and handed out four assists, but No. 1-ranked St. Thomas toppled the visiting Scots 92-53 Wednesday night.  The top-ranked team in the most recent D3hoops.com national poll had five players score in double figures and turned the ball over just four times to improve to 16-0 overall and 11-0 in the MIAC.

Kilgour has netted 16 or more points in four of his team's last six games and is knocking down 41% of his three-point tries on the season as the MIAC's top-scoring frosh.  He was joined in double figures by Sam Marshall (Sr., Sun Prairie, Wis.) with 12 points to go along with five rebounds.  Hans Erickson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Logan), like Kilgour, dished out four assists.

The Scots shot 53% from the field and went 7-for-14 from beyond the arc.  Mac has shot 48% or better in three of its past five games.

Zach Riedeman scored 13 points to go along with four assists and three steals to lead the Tommies, who have an average winning margin of 31 points over the last seven games. The Tommies have a 3 ½ game lead in the conference standings.

St. Thomas broke to an 18-2 lead. After Mac pulled within 26-16, the Toms closed the first half on a 21-5 run.  UST led 47-21 at the break.

Macalester, now 4-11 overall and 1-8 in the MIAC, plays host to Bethel Saturday (Jan. 19) at 3 p.m.
