Scots win overtime thriller over St. Olaf; Mucic leads the way with career scoring and rebounding highs

Kyanna Jones (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) sunk the second of two free throw attempts with no time left on the clock in overtime as Macalester won an 83-82 thriller over St. Olaf at the Leonard Center.

Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park, Minn.) put together one of her best games as a Scot, finishing with 24 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and three blocked shots to lead the way. Her 24 points and 16 boards are Macalester career highs and her five steals and three blocks match her career best.

There were 21 lead changes in this battle and the score was deadlocked on14 occasions. The biggest lead for either team was six points. Over the final 10:13 of regulation and in throughout the five-minute overtime stanza, the lead was never greater than two points.

Joining Mucic with a big effort, Mac's Jessica Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) enjoyed a productive afternoon, knocking down 4-of-6 from behind the arc and finishing with a season-best 19 points. Audrey Mills (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) came off the bench to net a career-best 12 points and Holly Schiedermayer (Jr., Waupaca, Wis.) had nine points and six boards.

In addition to making the game-winning free throw, Jones contributed five assists and eight rebounds.

The Oles were led by Terin Euerle with 16 points, three assists and three steals. Mackenzie Wolter chipped in with 15 points and Kirstee Rotty added 14 points, three assists and three thefts.

Macalester was 26-for-34 from the free throw stripe.

The Scots return to action Monday (Jan. 17) when they host Carleton at 7:30 p.m.
