Macalester vs. Gustavus Adolphus statistics
Gustavus Adolphus turned the ball over just six times, held the Scots to 26% shooting in the first half, and held off a strong Macalester comeback to defeat the Scots 63-44 in St. Peter to keep its hold on second place in the MIAC standings.
The Scots kept their fight and spirit after a very difficult first half, which ended with Gustavus on top 33-17, and put together a 16-2 scoring run early in the second period to battle back to within four points at 39-35 with 14:28 remaining.

Kyle Hamblett (Jr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) sparked the big rally that brought the score to within four points at 39-35 with 14:28 left in the game. Gustavus responded with a 10-2 run to go up 49-37 with just under nine minutes remaining. The Scots would come within nine points at the 7:00 mark before the Gusties pulled away.
Pierce Peters (Fy., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) scored 13 points and blocked a couple shots to lead Mac, while Hamblett scored nine of his 11 points in the second half. Peters and Hamblett were both 5-for-7 from the field.
Colin Keeley (Jr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) contributed eight points, six rebounds and two blocks.
The Scots were 10-for-16 shooting in the second half (63%).
Sam Paulson led Gustavus with 15 points and Dan Schmidtknecht distributed eight assists. Ryan McPartland had 10 points and 10 boards. The Gusties led 26-4 in points off turnovers.
Mac plays Saturday (Feb. 7) against Augsburg in Minneapolis.
