Macalester vs. Concordia statistics
The first 20 minutes of Wednesday's Macalester vs. Concordia-Moorhead game was closely played throughout. The visiting Cobbers, however, turned a two-point halftime lead into a 76-50 MIAC decision over the Scots at the Leonard Center by shooting 59% from the floor and converting 20-of-21 free throws in the second half.
In the opening period, there were five lead changes and four ties before the buzzer sounded with the Cobbers up 26-24. Concordia turned a six-point margin at 42-36 into a 17-point lead at 58-41 with 7:45 to play with a game-deciding 16-5 rally.
The Cobbers shot 52% for the game and went 23-for-27 from the charity stripe, compared to just 2-for-5 for Macalester.
Colin Keeley (Jr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) came off the bench to lead Macalester with 12 points.
Kyle Hamblett (Jr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) scored nine points, and
Holden Bigler-Johnson (Jr., Austin, Tex. / Anderson) finished with seven points and four assists.
Karl Olson, John Fraase and Aaron Lindahl netted 14 points each to pace Concordia. The Cobbers only had a +4 turnover advantage, but led 23-4 in points off turnovers. CC made four of its six second half three point attempts.
Macalester returns to action Saturday (Feb. 13) in Northfield against St. Olaf.
