Macalester vs. Wisconsin-River Falls statistics
Returning to action for the first time in three weeks, the Scots took on Wisconsin-River Falls, the No. 16-ranked team in the D3Hoops.com national rankings, and the host-Falcons jumped out to a 40-24 halftime lead en route to an 85-58 victory over the Scots.
River Falls, the first-place team in the WIAC and a winner earlier in the year over defending national champion UW-Stevens Point, wins its sixth in a row and improves to 10-2 on the season. The Falcons drained 12-of-24 from behind the arc.
The Falcons shot 52% in the opening half, making 5-of-9 from three-point range, and took command by going out on top 33-11.
Colin Keeley (Sr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) carried the load for Macalester, going 5-for-7 (2-for-2 on threes) for 12 points in the first period.
In the second helf, UWRF maintained its hot shooting and on the game was 50% from the floor and 50% on three-pointers.
Three Scots finished in double figures in scoring: Keeley with 18 (on an 8-for-13 shooting night),
Kyle Hamblett (Sr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) with 10 and
Justin Wasik (Fy., Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) with 10 to go along with five rebounds.
Wisconsin-River Falls used a very balanced attack. Aaron Anderson scored 12 points to pace the team, while Brian Kimble added 10. Six others added seven points or more.
The Scots (0-7 on the season) return to MIAC play when they travel to Moorhead Monday (Jan. 3) to take on Concordia.
