Macalester vs. Wisconsin-Superior statistics
Wisconsin-Superior shot 53% on the night, making 8-of-18 three-point tries, and defeated the visiting Scots 77-58.
Pierce Peters (So., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) paced Macalester with 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, while
Andy Bowman (So., Perry, Kan. / Perry – Lecompton) contributed 12 points and eight boards.
Justin Wasik (Fy., Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) contributed 11 points, while
Chris Quinn (Fy., Medford, Mass. / Beaver Country Day) had three assists and two steals.
Superior closed out each half strongly. In the opener period, Macalester led 25-23 before the Yellow Jackets staged a 12-2 rally to go up 35-27 at the intermission. A 12-4 second half run by the Scots cut the UWS lead to seven points at 58-51 with just under eight minutes remaining on the clock. Superior, however, pulled away by holding Mac to five free throws and a basket the rest of the way.
The Yellow Jackets controlled the inside, getting 16 second chance points and 40 points in the paint. Marcus Hellend pumped in 17 points to pace UW-Superior.
Macalester returns to action Tuesday (Nov. 23) when it plays host to Northwestern-Roseville at 7:30 p.m.
