Macalester vs. Augsburg statistics
Ann Baltzer (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds – and became the ninth player in the history of the program to reach the 1,000-point career scoring milestone – as Macalester cruised past visiting Augsburg 84-50 to move into a tie for first place in the MIAC standings.
The Scots, with their fourth straight double-dig win, are 7-1 in the conference and tied for the top spot with St. Benedict and Gustavus.
Baltzer reached her milestone registered her 1,000th point midway through the second half and is the second Scot to achieve this milestone this season, joining teammate
Trina PaStarr (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest). In three Macalester MIAC wins this week, Baltzer was 22-for-34 from the field (65%) with a 17.3 scoring average.
Macalester led 11-8 five minutes into the contest and then extended its advantage to 32-12 with a 21-4 run and the lead was never in danger after that. The Scots shot 49% in the first half and led 43-21 at the intermission. They added 41 second half points to finish with a season-high figure of 84. Mac enjoyed a 27-17 turnover advantage and the league's top rebounded team out-boarded their guests 47-30.
In addition to getting a season-best 22 from Baltzer, the Scots received 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots and three steals from PaStarr in a strong all-around game. She's now tied for fifth on Mac's all-time scoring chart with 1,060 points.
Holly Schiedermayer (So., Waupaca, Wis.) scored 16 points off the bench on a 6-for-9 shooting performance, and
Maggie Wood (So., Oregon, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) was the fourth Scot in double figures with 11 points to go along with three steals.
Augsburg was paced by Ashley Erickson with eight points. Lexi Thompson had five steals and Brittany Dyshaw picked up four thefts.
During Mac's 4-0 January start, the team is out-scoring its opponents by 20.8 points a game and are allowing just 52.3 points per game.
The Scots try to make it five-for-five in January when the host Carleton on Wednesday (Jan. 13) at 7:30 p.m.
