Macalester vs. Gustavus statistics

Gustavus Adolphus dominated the first 20 minutes of play and went on to earn a 70-38 triumph over Macalester at the Leonard Center. The Gusties remain on top of the MIAC at 5-0 and go to 7-3 overall. The Scots fall to 2-9 overall, 0-6 in conference play.

The Gusties shot 58% in the first half, compared to 30% for the home team, and had the game put away with a 40-13 halftime lead. The Scots settled down in the second half and played Gustavus evenly.

Pierce Peters (Fy., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) knocked down six of his eight shots and paced Macalester with 13 points. Holden Bigler-Johnson (Jr., Austin, Tex. / Anderson) scored seven of his nine points in the second half. Jerry Kraus (Sr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral – Colo.) led all rebounders with six boards, six off the offensive glass.

Gustavus was led by Phil Wirtjes with 11 points and Ryan McPartland with 10. The Gusties were 17-for-20 from the foul line and finished the game with a 51% shooting figure.

Macalester travels on Moorhead on Wednesday (Jan. 6) to take on Concordia.
