Macalester vs. St. Olaf statistics
Macalester drained 6-of-13 from behind the arc and held St. Olaf to a 30% shooting figure for the night to defeat the Oles 58-43 in Northfield and win for the third time in four games. The Scots turned a one-point lead midway through the opening stanza into a 23-11 advantage with an 11-0 run and were never in trouble after that, leading by double digits the entire second half.
The Scots are now 11-13 overall and 9-12 in the MIAC heading into this weekend's season-finale at St. Kate's. St. Olaf falls to 4-20 on the winter and 2-19 in league play.
Danielle Johnson (Jr., DeForest, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) handed out seven assists and added eight points for Macalester. Topping a balanced scoring attack were
Jessica Rene (Fy., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) and
Majra Mucic (So., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park (Minn.)) with 12 points apiece. Rene was 5-of-6 from the field and Mucic went 4-for-7.
Johnson,
Trina PaStarr (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) and
Ann Baltzer (Jr., Bismarck, N.D.) each tallied eight points. PaStarr grabbed eight boards and Baltzer had seven.
Elyse Erickson finished the night with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way for St. Olaf.
Macalester led 24-12 in points off turnovers.
The Scots wrap up the season Saturday (Feb. 21) at St. Catherine at 3 p.m.
