Macalester vs. St. Olaf statistics
Macalester season came to an end Wednesday night at the Leonard Center with a 68-47 defeat to St. Olaf as the Oles held the Scots to a season-low 26% shooting figure on the night.
St. Olaf received 17 points, five assists and five steals from Alfred Jaryan off the bench, and improves to 10-14 on the year and 7-12 in the MIAC. Macalester closes out a difficult campaign at 0-25 overall, 0-20 in the MIAC.
Jerry Kraus (Jr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral (Colo.)) and
Paul Richie (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) netted 10 points each to lead the way for the Scots, while Richie also collected six steals to help Macalester gain a 21-11 turnover advantage and 18-11 lead in points off turnovers. This was Richie's sixth game in a row in double figures in scoring.
Tyson Morgan (Sr., Lewiston, Me.) and
James Murrey (Jr., Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) each blocked a couple shots for the MIAC's top shot-blocking team. Murrey also scored nine points.
The Oles owned the boards, collecting a 59-29 margin in rebounds and grabbing 21 offensive rebounds. They enjoyed an 18-3 lead in second chance points.
In addition to getting 17 points from Jaryan, the Oles received a double-double from Tucker Sheley, who finished with 12 points and 13 boards. Nate Krosschel had 10 points and nine rebounds.
