Macalester vs. Carleton statistics
Macalester scored 29 points over the game's final 11:21 to turn a three-point deficit into a 69-61 win over Carleton in Northfield as the Scots snap a 16-game losing skid to the Knights.
The Scots boost their record to 10-13 overall and 8-12 in the MIAC. The Knights are 10-13 on the season, 9-11 in the MIAC. The Scots pick up their 10th victory of the season as Mac reaches double digits in the win column for the first time since 1995-96. The win also avenges a one-point defeat to Carleton in January when the Knights gained their only lead of the game with just three seconds to play.
Trina PaStarr (Jr. Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) led a balanced Macalester scoring attack with 13 points.
Majra Mucic (So. Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park (Minn.)) scored 11 points while grabbing a team-best eight rebounds, and
Ann Baltzer (Jr. Bismarck, N.D.) tallied 10 points.
Danielle Johnson (Jr., DeForest, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) added nine points and six boards.
Macalester collected 14 offensive rebounds, out-scoring Carleton 23-9 in second chance points, and committed just three turnovers in the second half. There were six lead changes and three ties in the early part of the second half, but the Scots held a lead for the final 10:24 of the game.
Free throw shooting was a big factor for the Scots, especially in the second half. Mac went 22-for-27 for the game (82%), including 19-for-24 in the second stanza.
Hannah Oken-Berg paced Carleton with 21 points. Sarah Lincoln contributed eight points and 10 rebounds while handing out four assists.
The Scots return to Northfield on Wednesday (Feb. 18) to play St. Olaf.
