Macalester vs. Concordia statistics
Concordia held on to second place in the MIAC by shooting 47 percent and picking up a 71-57 win over the Scots at Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead.
Concordia – the No. 3-ranked team in the NCAA Division III West Region - improves to 16-6 on the season and 15-4 in the MIAC. Macalester is 9-13 this winter, 7-12 in the conference. The Cobbers trail only George Fox (Ore.) and MIAC-leading St. Benedict in the region poll.
Macalester took the early lead by going out on top 8-3 before Concordia got things going with a 21-3 rally to take control of the game at 24-11 with 8:30 to play in the opening half. A three-pointer on the buzzer just before the break gave CC a 36-26 cushion. Up 39-30, the Cobs buried the visitors with a 21-6 run.
Majra Mucic (So., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park, Minn.) came off the bench to pace the Scots with 12 points, going 4-for-7 from the floor. She also gave the team five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.
Jessica Rene (Fy., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) knocked down 3-of-4 from outside the three-point line in the first half and
Ann Baltzer (Jr., Bismarck, N.D.) finished with 11 points. Rene also collected three steals.
Concordia led 34-10 in points in the paint and received 23 points from Jenna Freudenberg. Jenna Green and Maggie Bauernfiend each added 10. The Cobbers led 30-13 in points off turnover even though they had just a +2 turnover margin.
The Scots make the trip to Northfield Saturday (Feb. 14) to play Carleton.
