Macalester vs. Concordia statistics
Concordia used a 20-4 run to turn a three-point advantage in to commanding 33-14 lead, and went on to defeat Macalester 78-60 in Moorhead. The Scots put 39 points on the board in the second period, but could not overcome a 41-21 Cobber halftime lead. Concordia made 10 of 19 tries from behind the three-point line.
Mac was within 10 points at 51-41 midway through the second period but could get no closer.
Paul Richie (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) led the way for the Scots with 20 points, to go along with three assists and three steals. Richie established a career-high 19 points last weekend against Gustavus and tops that with tonight's performance. He has led the team in scoring in each of the last four games.
Jerry Kraus (Jr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral (Colo.)) scored 10 points and
James Murrey (Jr,. Western Springs, Ill. / Lyon Township) added nine.
Patrick Piepkorn (Fy. , Sauk Rapids, Minn. / Sauk Rapids-Rice) and
Kyle Hamblett (So., Paris, France / American School of Paris) pulled down six rebounds apiece.
Concordia had five players in double figures in scoring and had two starters with double-doubles. John Fraase had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Darrin Olmscheid finished with 15 points and 12 boards. Jonathon Molina handed out six assists. Concordia shot 49% on the night.
The Scots travel to Northfield to take on Carleton on Saturday (Feb. 14). Carleton is in a five-way tie for second place in the MIAC standings.
