Macalester vs. Bethel statistics
Bethel made half of its shots and went 8-for-12 from three-point range, and went on to record a 73-55 win over Macalester in Arden Hills. Bethel turned a 19-17 lead into a 13-point halftime advantage by out-scoring the visitors 20-9 over the final 8:43 of the opening period.
The Royals move up to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC. Macalester is 1-4 on the season, 0-3 in the MIAC.
Paul Richie (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and
Kyle Hamblett (Jr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) netted 15 points apiece to pace the Scots, while
Colin Keeley (Jr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) added 10. Richie knocked down 4-of-10 from behind the arc, while Hamblett was 7-for-10 from the floor.
Jerry Kraus (Sr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral – Colo.) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Pierce Peters (Fy., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) went 8-for-8 on free throws and also pulled down five boards.
Bethel was led by Chris Vavra with 15 points and Greg Meyer with 14. The Royals held Mac to a 35% shooting evening.
The Scots play their third straight MIAC road contest when they travel to Collegeville Wednesday (Dec. 9) to take on St. John's.
