Macalester vs. Hamline statistics
Hamline went on a key 8-0 run late in the game to pull away for a 72-61 victory over visiting Macalester Saturday at HU's Hutton Arena. The Pipers improve to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the MIAC, while the Scots are now 1-3 overall, 0-2 in league play.
Jerry Kraus (Sr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral – Colo.) went 6-for-9 from the field and scored a team-high 15 points to pace the Scots.
Colin Keeley (Jr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) added 14 points and
Pierce Peters (Fy., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) added 13.
Paul Richie (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) distributed five assists.
Carl Hipp paced Hamline with 19 points and Ray Brown added 17.
Macalester shot 44%, compared to 42% for Hamline. The Pipers grabbed 18 offensive boards and enjoyed a 22-10 advantage in points off turnovers.
Hamline went on top 12-4 through the early minutes of the contest before Mac responded with a big 27-7 run to go up 31-19 with five minutes left in the first half. The Scots led 33-30 at the intermission. Hamline led 58-53 with 4:35 left to play when it staged its decisive 8-0 rally.
The Scots go for their first MIAC win of the young season when they may the short trip to Arden Hills on Monday (Dec. 7) to take on Bethel.
