Macalester vs. Colorado College statistics
Colorado College used a full-court press to get a 24-12 turnover advantage, and went 11-for-24 on three-pointers, to beat Macalester 81-58 Monday afternoon in St. Paul. Colorado College improves to 6-3 while the Scots drop to 2-6 going into a nine-day break from competition. The visiting Tigers out-scored Macalester 33-9 in points off turnovers.
Nick Rose pumped in 29 points, going 5-for-7 from three-point range, and teammate Jarrell Sweet added 15 points, six assists and four steals to lead the way for the Tigers. Colorado College enjoyed a 15-5 turnover advantage in the opening period to claim a 39-26 halftime lead and was never threatened after that.
Three Scots reached double figures in the scoring column, led by
Pierce Peters (Fy., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) with 14 points to go along with eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Holden Bigler-Johnson (Jr., Austin, Tex. / Anderson) contributed 11 points and
Jerry Kraus (Sr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral – Colo.) had 10 points and six boards.
Both teams took a while to get going and eight minutes into the game, the scored was tied 11-11. The Tigers then began a 10-0 run to take command on the contest and were never seriously threatened after that.
Macalester is off for nine days and returns to action next Wednesday (Dec. 30) with a home game against Wisconsin-River Falls.
