Macalester vs. St. Mary's statistics
Macalester shot 54% on the night, but visiting St. Mary's won a close 70-67 battle in St. Paul in the MIAC opener for both teams. The contest was close throughout and the lead was never greater than five points until the final four minutes of the second half. The game was tied 13 times, including nine in the second half.
St. Mary's out-rebounded the Scots 35-25 and received 27 points from Lukas Holland and 18 from Will Wright as the Cards improve to 3-2 overall, 1-0 in the MIAC. Holland was 5-for-6 on three-pointers.
Four Scots reached double digits in scoring, led by
Colin Keeley (Jr., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) with 16 points on a 6-for-9 shooting effort.
Kyle Hamblett (Jr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) contributed 14 points and four assists on a 6-for-9 shooting performance.
Holden Bigler-Johnson (Jr., Austin, Tex. / Anderson) delivered 13 points and three assists, and
Pierce Peters (Fy., Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Area) finished with 13 points, six boards and three blocked shots. Peters made four of his five shots.
The Scots, who are 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, shot 60% in the second half (15-for-25).
Macalester returns to the court Saturday (Dec. 5) at Hamline at 3 p.m. as the Scots play the first of three straight road games.
