Macalester vs. St. Thomas statistics
No. 3-ranked St. Thomas stayed undefeated by shooting 61 percent and rolling past visiting Macalester 95-55 Saturday afternoon. The Tommies have now won 38 straight games at home against conference rivals and improve to 10-0 on the season, 5-0 in the MIAC.
Macalester kept things close for the first 10 minutes of the game and were within a point at 22-21 midway through the first half. St. Thomas, however, racked up 13 straight points to go up by 14 at 35-21 with 5:43 left in the period. UST led 48-26 at the break.
The Scots shot a solid 45% on the day and went 5-for-11 on three-point tries, but could not overcome UST's +20 turnover advantage (29-9).
Mac was led in the scoring column by
Colin Keeley (So., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) and
Kyle Hamblett (So., Paris, France / American School of Paris) with 10 points each. Forward
Jerry Kraus (Jr., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral – Colo.) handed out a career-best seven assists.
Paul Richie (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and
David Lewin (Sr., Wayland, Mass.) each scored nine points.
Anders Halvorsen led a balanced Tommie attack with 14 points. Brett Tuma added 12 points.
The Scots take on another one of the top MIAC teams Monday (Jan. 5) when they take on Gustavus in St. Peter.
