Macalester vs. Carleton statistics
Kyle Hamblett (So., Paris, France / American School of Paris) scored 23 points and
Colin Keeley (So., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) added 17, but visiting Carleton earned a rebounding, turnover and free throw shooting advantage to topple Macalester 86-75 at the Leonard Center.
Hamblett, who was 10-for-12 from the field, also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
Tyson Morgan (Sr., Lewiston, Me.) dished out four assists and
James Murrey (Jr., Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) picked up three steals.
Paul Richie (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) chipped in with nine points, while
Jackson Wright (Fy., Spicer, Minn. / New London-Spicer) netted eight points.
MIAC scoring leader Zach Johnson matched a career-best with 36 points to pace Carleton. The Knights enjoyed an 11-2 lead in offensive rebounds and a 16-9 turnover advantage. They also canned 19-of-25 free throw tries.
Macalester shot well from the field (53%) and from behind the three-point arc (45%), going 30-for-57 from the floor and 9-for-20 on treys.
Carleton led by five points at 74-69 with 3:10 to play and then went on a game-clinching 9-3 run to go up 83-72 with 1:11 to play.
The Scots are back in action next Wednesday (Jan. 21) when they host St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
