Macalester vs. Northwestern statistics
Northwestern jumped out to a 20-3 lead midway through the first half and never looked back en route to a 78-52 win over the Scots at Macalester's Leonard Center. The Eagles shot 57% from the field, including 8-for-15 on three-point tries, and improve to 3-0 on the young season. The Scots are 0-3 on the campaign.
Macalester played tough defense and worked for a 24-13 turnover advantage, but shot only 31% on the night and allowed the Eagles to go inside for a 42-12 lead in points in the paint.
Paul Richie (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished with 12 points, five assists and four steals to lead the way for the Scots.
Colin Keeley (So., Kildeer, Ill. / Stevenson) added 10 points.
Stephen Hanson finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead Northwestern. Hanson went 9-for-12 from the field. He was joined in double figures by Reid Berens with 15 points and Brian Lecheler with 14. NWC led 42-19 at halftime.
The Scots head to Storm Lake, Ia., on Friday (Nov. 29) to take on Buena Vista. They open MIAC play Dec. 3 at St. Mary's.
