Macalester falls to St. Benedict

Macalester vs. St. Benedict stats & play-by-play

St. Benedict led 19-8 midway through the first half and held its advantage the rest of the way to beat Macalester 62-49 in St. Joseph. The Scots forced 25 turnovers, helping them get 52 shots compared to 40 for CSB, but the Blazers shot 60% on the night.

Macalester is now 4-6 on the season and 3-4 in the MIAC. St. Ben's remains within a game of first-place St. Thomas and stands at 7-3 overall, 5-2 in league competition.

Three players reached double figures for Mac, led by Trina PaStarr (So., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) with 15 points. Teammates Ann Baltzer (So., Bismarck, N.D.) and Alyssa Lunde (So., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) added 10 points apiece.

The Blazers were led by Ariel Tauer with 15 points and three assists, while Danielle Frank grabbed nine rebounds.

Macalester looks to get back to the .500 level in the conference when it travels to Northfield on Saturday (Jan. 12) to take on St. Olaf.
