Macalester vs. Augsburg stats & play-by-play
Four players reached double figures in scoring, led by an 18-point effort from
Danielle Johnson (So., DeForest, Wis. / Madison Edgewood), as Macalester evened its conference record with a 71-63 win over visiting Augsburg . The Scots shot 47% from the floor and led the entire way after taking the lead for good at 4-3 in the early going.
Macalester goes to 4-5 on the season and 3-3 in the MIAC. The Auggies are now 4-5 overall, 2-4 in the MIAC.
Joining Johnson in double figures were Ann Baltzer (So., Bismarck, N.D.) with 16 points, Alyssa Lunde (So., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) with 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Jessica Ramirez (Fy., Ocala, Fla. / Trinity Catholic) with 10 off the bench.
Majra Mucic (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) collected five steals and Trina PaStarr (So., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) contributed 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Augsburg was led by Katie LaGrave with 23 points, while Michelle Richter tallied 10.
Macalester led by six at 51-45, and then rattled off 10 unanswered points to go up by 16 at 61-45 with 4:40 to play. Augsburg cut the lead to six at 61-55 at 2:01 but Mac finished the job and won by eight.
The Scots travel to St. Joseph on Wednesday (Jan. 9) to take on St. Benedict.
