Macalester vs. Augsburg stats & play-by-play

Augsburg out-rebounded the Scots by a 50-26 margin and cruised to an easy 72-52 victory over Macalester at the College of St. Catherine . The Auggies held Mac to 20 first half points and a 34% shooting figure for the night. Augsburg out-scored Macalester 21-4 in second chance points and pulled down more offensive boards than the Scots had defensive rebounds.

Augsburg gains its first conference win and goes to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the MIAC. With its second straight one-sided defeat in three days, the Scots drop to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in MIAC competition.

Tom Conboy (Sr., Chanhassen, Minn. / Chaska) produced his seventh straight 20-point performance, pumping in 23 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Brian Ranwick (Sr., Plymouth, Minn. / Minnetonka) went 4-for-8 from three-point territory for the second game in a row and the MIAC leader in treys made finished with 14 points.

Abe Woldeslassie (Sr., Richfield, Minn. / St. Thomas Academy) handed out five assists and Paul Richie (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.) picked up four steals.

Augsburg center Femi Solaja dominated the game from the start and finished with 20 points, 19 rebounds and three blocked shots. Jon Cassens added 18 points and Mitch Dice came off the bench to contribute 13 points.

Macalester plays Wednesday (Jan. 9) at St. John's .
