Macalester vs. Carleton stats
Carleton shot 56% from the field, including a red-hot 69% in the second half, and went on to beat Macalester 73-65 at the College of St. Catherine . The Knights maintain their hold on third place in the league standings.
Carleton boosts its mark on the season to 11-3 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC. Macalester drops to 5-9 overall and 3-6 in the MIAC.
Macalester dropped in nine three-points, and received a 6-for-11 shooting performance from behind the arc from Abe Woldeslassie (Sr., Richfield, Minn. / St. Thomas Academy). Woldeslassie paced the Scots with 24 points.
Tom Conboy (Sr., Chanhassen, Minn. / Minnetonka) became Macalester's all-time leading rebounder late in the game. Conboy, who has averaged 15.8 rebounds over the team's last four contests, grabbed 13 on the day to bring
his career total at Mac to 724. That breaks the mark of 722 established by Ben Van Thorre '04. The MIAC scoring leader also scored 23 points.
Woldaslassie and Conboy combined to go 18-for-30 from the floor (60%).
Brian Ranwick (Sr., Plymouth, Minn. / Minnetonka) scored eight points and Kyle Hamblett (Fr., Paris, France / American School of Paris) picked up five steals.
Zach Johnson had a 10-for-13 shooting day and finished with 24 points and six assists. Bryan Rosett finished with 19 points and nine boards.
Macalester led 32-30 at halftime but the Knights made good on 18 of 27 second half shots as Johnson led the way with 15 points in the period.
Mac looks to snap out of its six-game slide when it plays Monday (Jan. 21) at Hamline.
