Macalester vs. St. Olaf stats & play-by-play

Tom Conboy (Sr., Chanhassen, Minn. / Minnetonka) tallied 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, reaching the 20-point mark for the ninth straight game, but host St. Olaf held on for a 68-63 win over Macalester in Northfield.
Macalester drops to 5-7 on the season and goes below the .500 level in the conference at 3-4. St. Olaf improves to 4-8 overall and 3-6 in the MIAC.
In addition to getting 29 from Conboy, Macalester received 19 points and four assists from Abe Woldeslassie (Sr., Richfield, Minn. / St. Thomas Academy).
Conboy brings his scoring average on the season to 25.3 ppg., with his ninth consecutive game of at least 22 points.
Mark Torell scored 20 points to lead the way for the Oles, while Bobby Hunter scored 19. Brady McMahon has 12 points and 11 rebounds and Steve Banick handed out five assists. St. Olaf shot 51% from the field.
The game was close throughout and the ninth and final tie of the contest came with under two minutes to play. Two Conboy free throws tied things up at 61-61 with 1:57 to go. St. Olaf, however, scored the game's next seven points.
Mac will try to snap its four-game losing slump Wednesday (Jan. 16) at Bethel.
