No. 11-ranked Concordia rolled to a 30-17, 30-24 and 30-20 MIAC victory over Macalester in Moorhead . The defending MIAC champion Cobbers improve to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the league. Macalester is now 2-9 overall, 0-3 in MIAC competition.
The Cobbers hit .204 as a team and spread out their hitting attack evenly, with Michelle Honek leading the way with eight kills.
Marie Godwin (So., Chaska, Minn.) hit 10 kills to lead the Macalester offense, while also providing 14 digs. Kiera Coulter (Fy., Davis, Calif.) led the way in the back row with 28 digs and on the season through 11 matches is averaging 4.4 digs per game.
Kari Tanaka (Sr., Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson) set 21 assists and Briana Keefe-Oates (Sr., Encinitas, Calif. / San Dieguito Academy) added nine. Suzy Szumowski (Jr., Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North) gave the Scots seven kills and three blocks.
The Scots are off until playing a pair of conference matches this weekend without having to travel too far. Macalester plays Friday (Sept. 28) at Bethel at 7 p.m. and takes on Augsburg the next day at 3 p.m.
