St. Benedict handed the Scots their third straight loss of what was a disappointing week by beating Macalester 1-0 in St. Joseph and seriously dampening Mac's title hopes. The Blazers improve to a perfect 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the MIAC. The Scots, who dropped a 1-0 decision three nights earlier at Augsburg , drops to 7-4 on the season and 4-2 in the MIAC.
Shannn Strohm registered nine saves and Maria Conroy scored the game's only goal in the 16th minute.
Macalester out-shot the Blazers by a 13-5 margin.
This marks the first three-game losing streak for the Scots since dropping their season-finale in 1992 and then starting off 0-2 against a pair of Division I teams in '93. This is the first time Macalester has lost three straight in a season since a three-game skid in 1988, one year before John Leaney took over as head coach.
The Scots face another serious challenger when they take on second-place Concordia Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 9) in Moorhead.
