In a game originally schedule for Sept. 26 but postponed by thunderstorms, the Macalester Scots hosted the Hamline Pipers Thursday night. The Scots led 2-1 at halftime and put the game away with three unanswered second half markers to beat the Pipers 5-1.
Macalester improves to 9-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the MIAC. Hamline goes to 7-7 on the season, 2-6 in the MIAC.
Emily Hall (Fy., Seattle Wash. / Roosevelt) scored a pair of goals, her third and fourth of the season, to lead the way. The first was on a header off a corner kick to put Mac up at the 1:48 mark. After the Pipers scored an early goal of the own, coming off the foot of Allison Brisson at 10:17, Macalester regained the lead for good on Hall's second goal at 22:08.
Mac had an "own goal" about 10 minutes into the second half and at 63:37 went up 4-1 when Martha Coe (Fy., Grand Haven, Mich.) scored her third goal of the season. Grace King (Jr., Northampton, Mass.), who assisted on Hall's second goal and Coe's goal, wrapped up the scoring with her 11th of the season with just :17 left on the game clock.
This was King's 30th career goal at Macalester, as she becomes just the eighth player in the history of the program to deliver 30 career goals. She is currently the MIAC goal-scoring leader with eight in league matches.
The Scots are off until next Wednesday (Oct. 24) when they host Gustavus at 7:30 p.m.
