Maddie Mette (So., Burnsville, Minn.) scored a first half goal and Grace King (Jr., Northampton, Mass.) scored in the second half as Macalester snapped a four-game losing skid with a 2-0 home field win over St. Mary's.

Macalester's losing slump was its longest in two decades, but Friday night's win in front of a nice crowd puts the Scots right back in the race for a spot in the four-team post-season MIAC playoffs.

The Scots move their record to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the MIAC. St. Mary's drops to 9-5 overall, 3-5 in the MIAC.

Mac out-shot its guests 20-5 and enjoyed a 9-4 margin in corner kicks.

Mette's goal, her first of the season, came from about 30 yards away directly in off a free kick at 35:42.

Meghan Garrity (Sr., Walled Lake, Mich. / Marian) made a nice scoring move late in the game, but her shot deflected off the post. King was in the right spot for a rebound and beat the keeper at 84:26. This was King's 10th goal of the campaign. With her next goal, King will become the eighth member of the program's career 30-goal club.

The Scots play another important MIAC match Tuesday (Oct. 16) at St. Thomas.
