The first Macalester Athlete of the Week for the 2008-09 sports season is Lauryn Gutierrez (So., Hickory N.C. / St. Stephens) from the women’s soccer team. Gutierrez scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Scots past Ripon (Wis.) and Lawrence (Wis.) at the ACM Classic at Macalester Stadium. She netted a pair of first half goals and assisted on a second half score Saturday (Aug. 30) in a 6-1 victory over Ripon as the Scots posted their highest single-game scoring total in 60 games. In Sunday’s (Aug. 31) 2-0 triumph over Lawrence, Gutierrez got the Scots on the board midway through the first half with her third goal of the weekend.
