Macalester College Athletics

Nathan Young (Fy., Denver, Colo. / Littleton) swam to top honors in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championships at the University of Minnesota.  The first MIAC individual champion for the Macalester men in over 20 years, Young won the 100 back finals Friday in 51.37 and then on Saturday night placed first in the 200-yard backstroke finals in 1:51.66.  He was seeded first in both events.  Both are school record times and NCAA’B’ qualifying marks.  Young is expected to move on to the NCAA Division III championships set for March 13-15 at Oxford, Ohio.
